Independent games studio 3DIVISION has today released Content Update #9 – Crime and Justice – for the Early Access version of Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic. This is the soviet-themed game of a city-builder tycoon set in an imaginary communist Eastern European country.
Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic is the ultimate soviet-themed real-time city-builder tycoon game. You can build your own republic to transform a country from poverty into an industrial superpower.
What is content update #9?
Content update #9 adds a new Crime and Justice System with three new buildings, namely a Police Station and Regional Court. The new system can be disabled or made easier by players. This is similar to the seasons and fires features. Your citizens’ happiness and health will be affected by their government loyalty and unemployment.
Each citizen will have a hidden criminality preference. This preference will be generated randomly and will lead to an increase in crime rates throughout the Republic. The overall crime rate will be affected by low government loyalty and high unemployment. The severity of a crime will affect all residents in the area. If the crime is causing harm to others or citizens, their happiness and health will gradually decline.
The police will arrive at the crime scene if a crime has been committed. The better chance of successfully investigating the crime, the earlier the police arrive. After the evidence has been processed by the police, the investigation will continue. Only after the investigation is complete and all suspects have been arrested can the case be taken to the Regional Court. The criminal will be sent to jail if the trial proves successful.
Prisons will require the highest security level possible. If there aren’t enough workers, security will drop. The prison will be more secure if it has more dedicated workers. Food and clothing will have to be brought into the prison. Due to security concerns, it won’t have a factory connection so these items will need be transported by trucks. Prison buses can transport inmates to factories and other industrial facilities. To ensure long-term security, players must decide which industries they want to take prisoners.
If players are up for the challenge, the Crime and Justice update will add an additional layer to the overall game experience. This update will give players more reasons to keep the unemployment rates low and citizen loyalty high.
The update adds the long-awaited railway distribution office. The new update is much more intuitive than traditional rail lines and schedules. All the player has to do to connect the source and destination buildings, and the railway distribution officer will automatically determine when and where to deploy trains and how many cars to be used for the task at hand.
