Guerilla Games’ Horizon: Zero Dawn was officially unveiled during Sony’s E3 presser earlier this year, months after concept art of the game leaked online. We were all left dragging our jaws along the ground for a couple of hours afterwards; it was that good.
We already know that Horizon is built using the same engine that powered the PS4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall. What we didn’t know, however, was that the engine was originally being used for Horizon: Zero Dawn before Killzone: Shadow Fall had even entered production.
Speaking with Official PlayStation Magazine, Guerilla co-founder Hermen Hulst stated that “It’s been a huge, huge benefit for the studio when starting… Although, well… we actually commenced on the Horizon Zero Dawn project before we commenced on Killzone Shadow Fall.”
Well, the more you know, eh? We always assumed that Horizon’s inception came about way after Killzone: Shadow Fall. You learn something new everyday.
Horizon: Zero Dawn will release on PS4 sometime in 2016.
