Yes, it is possible to defeat Death in Vampire Survivors. Death comes for us all, but in Vampire Survivors, you can vanquish Death itself — at least temporarily. So, if you think you’re ready to go face-to-face with Death, below is a list of tried and true strategies for defeating Death in Vampire Survivors.
What Is Death In Vampire Survivors?
Death, also known as The Reaper, is an enemy that appears after the time limit of a stage has been reached. Death spawns at the 30-minute mark and will reappear every minute until he successfully kills you. The Reaper does not exist in Endless Mode.
When Death arrives, it will instantly make a beeline to your location and attempt to end your run. And since Death sports 65,535 Power, 1,200 Speed, and an HP that’s determined by the player’s level times 655,350, The Reaper will make quick work of all but the most well-prepared survivors.

How To Defeat Death In Vampire Survivors: Crimson Shroud and Infinite Corridor
With such absurd stats, how could anyone defeat Death in Vampire Survivors? Well, it won’t be easy. However, there are a few strategies that’ll allow you to conquer Death itself.
The developer-intended way to defeat Death in Vampire Survivors is to combine the Crimson Shroud and the Infinite Corridor. These two weapons are evolutions of Laurel and Clock Lancet, respectively.
Acquiring the Crimson Shroud and the Infinite Corridor will take some effort. First, you’ll need to grab the Yellow Sign inside Holy Forbidden. After that, you’ll be able to collect Metaglio Left, Metaglio Right, Silver Rin, and Gold Ring on every stage.
Combining a level 7 Clock Lancet, level 9 Silver Ring, and level 9 Gold Ring will let you evolve the Clock Lancet into Infinite Corridor. A level 7 Laurel, level 9 Metaglio Left, and level 9 Metaglio Right combine to create the Crimson Shroud.
The way this works is that the Crimson Shroud caps incoming damage at ten, so The Reaper won’t be able to one-shot you. The Crimson Shroud also deals significant retaliatory damage. Then, the Infinite Corridor halves enemy health, making defeating Death a more manageable task.
Defeating Death with this strategy will award Golden Eggs and is the only way to summon the White Hand.
How To Defeat Death In Vampire Survivors: Toastie
Another way to defeat Death in Vampire Survivors is to use the character Toastie. Toastie begins with 1 HP, but at level 100, Toastie will sit at 9,999 HP. At level 200, Toastie gains an additional 65,520 Armour.
An HP of 9,999 combined with 65,520 Armour sounds incredible, but it’s still not enough to take on The Reaper. However, if you use the Armour PowerUp and Armour passive item, you can resist even more damage. Finally, if you combine the Awake Arcana, the Revival PowerUp, and Tiragisú, you can add additional Armour by reviving six times.
Altogether, this strategy will reduce the damage of Death’s attack to 1! Mix in some self-healing items and PowerUps, and Toastie will be able to take The Reaper head-on. If you can manage to execute all these steps in a single run, defeating Death won’t be a sweat.

How To Defeat Death In Vampire Survivors: Suor Clerici And Runetracers
Finally, there is a cheesy way to defeat Death in Vampire Survivors that takes very little skill or effort. Thanks to Suor Clerici’s temporary area bonus, this character can survive through the entirety of Inland Library at level 2.
This strategy requires that you boot up the Inland Library stage as Suor Clerici. Next, immediately make a beeline to the green Experience Gem that sits on a table to the north. If possible, select the Runetracer weapon. If Runetracer isn’t among the options, you’ll need to restart the run and try again.
With Runetracer equipped, position your character between the map and the clock on the wall, right above where you just grabbed the Experience Gem. From here, let the Runetracer do the work. The Runetracer should get stuck in the geometry, allowing you to survive indefinitely.
Now, you wait. Sit around until Death arrives, but keep note of where the red Experience Gem appears — you will need to grab it later to defeat Death. Try to stay calm, as the onslaught of enemies can be overwhelming.
When the timer strikes 30:00, all the night creatures will disappear, as The Reaper is now on its way. As soon as this happens, rush for the red Experience Gem. After that, grab as many Treasure Chests as you can and try to evolve your weapons.
This strategy for defeating Death in Vampire Survivors is somewhat reliant on RNG, so it’s recommended to have access to a few Revives in case things go astray. You will also want to avoid the PowerUps of Growth, Curse, and Magnet, but feel free to invest in the others.
Below is a list of what weapons and passive items to prioritise:
- Santa Water
- Runetracer
- Laurel
- Clock Lancet
- Bracer
- Candelabrador
- Spellbinder
- Empty Tome
Bone, Knife, Duplicator Ring, Spinach, Magic Wand, Cross, Attractorb, and Tiragisú are fine additions to round out a build. Avoid grabbing any weapons and items not on this list. Also, do not collect any Treasure Chests or Experience Gems before The Reaper spawns because levelling past level 2 will ruin the run.
Last but not least, go back to where you’ve been hanging out this whole time and get situated behind the table and stools. If everything goes as planned, you should be able to defeat Death by unleashing all of your attacks from this area.
