There are two main ways you can farm Tera Shards in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. First, you can collect them from finishing Tera Raids with your friends or AI companions. You’ll receive more from finishing four to seven-star raids. To gain access to these battles, you can interact with one of the shining diamond objects scattered throughout the world or select “Tera Raid Battle” in the Poke Portal.
If you want to get water Tera Shards, so your Golduck’s Surf deals more damage while terestalized, you’ll want to get into a Tera Raid with a water type. They are more likely to drop as a result. In addition, you can make a sandwich that will make the likelihood of a Tera Shard of that type show up. For example, an Ultra Egg Sandwich will give more raid power to the Rock Type, making those Tera shard drops more likely to show up on your rewards screen.
- Getting Safety Goggles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will help protect your pocket monster from Sandstorm and other attacks.
Other Ways To Farm Tera Shards

Another way to farm Tera Shards is by visiting Area Zero. After you’ve finished all three main tasks in the story, you and three friends will enter the mysterious area. Once you’re inside and have completed the narrative that lies within it, go to the cavernous section below. After arriving at the magical spot, look for red drops on the ground. Once grabbed, they will give you three shards of one Tera type. It takes longer than completing Tera raids, but if you’re not keen on the mode, this is another way to farm Tera Shards.
After you’ve collected 50 Tera shards of one type, head over to Medali to change the Tera type of your Pokemon. It’s northeast of Cascarrafa and southwest of Glaseado Mountain. Find the Treasure Eatery nearby the eastern Pokemon Center. Once inside, talk to the chef at the bar. They will then make a dish that will change the Tera type of a chosen Pokemon. Once you make the decision, however, there’s no turning back…unless you have 50 more Tera Shards.
