Edutainment titles Kinect Sesame Street TV and Kinect Nat Geo TV appear to have been pretty successful in their respective first seasons. As a result, both have earned second seasons, which are slated to arrive on January 7, 2013.
The second seasons of Kinect Sesame Street TV and Kinect Nat Geo TV will include eight new 30-minute episodes each. A season pass for each title will be available for $29.99 (2400 MSP), or users can download individual episodes for $4.99 (400 MSP) each. While the details about Kinect Sesame Street TV‘s second season were slim, Major Nelson did say Nat Geo Wild’s Dangerous Encounters host Brady Barr will host the second season of Kinect Nat Geo TV. Barr is billed as a reptile expert, so perhaps that will be a focus of the second season.
Personally, I think the idea of the Kinect being used by the ‘hardcore’ gamers is more or less dead at this point, with no proper games dedicated for the device.
However, these educational games are a fantastic way for children to learn, and studies have proven that children learn better through play and engagement, something the aforementioned games provide in bucket loads.
