Konami hasn’t done a lot right lately but its investors will be forgiven for not reaching for the throats of the Japanese publisher’s executives. At least not for now…
Konami has recently revealed that it has managed to ship an impressive 5 million copies of Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain across all platforms. Those numbers include digital sales, too. It’s an impressive number for sure and Konami will be rolling in the much needed profits for a while.
For regular Joe’s, these numbers won’t mean much; but they should. With the game selling this well it shows Konami that the Metal Gear Solid franchise is still a worthwhile endeavour and that fans will happily hand over their hard earned money, even after numerous delays. Get ready for the annualisation, folks.
