Fans of the LEGO series of games have come to expect high standards from each title that gets released, well, at least each console/pc title that is.
Portable LEGO games have suffered in recent years, with the Nintendo DS becoming the platform of choice for Travellers Tales, the developer behind the long running series.
The first LEGO game to hit portables was LEGO Star Wars: The Original Trilogy, and the PSP version was, for the most part, identical to its console counterparts. This trend continued right up until the first LEGO Batman, and then it all went downhill.
The first LEGO game to adorn the PS Vita, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 was not well received with fans and rightly so, it was nothing more than a copy of the Nintendo version.
Then along came LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes which could have been so much more for the Sony handheld, but instead TT took no time and very little effort and decided to just update the graphics and add a few touchscreen gimmicks from the Nintendo game.
Fans were annoyed and angry, but held hope for LEGO Lord of The Rings.
Again, expect to be disappointed as LEGO Lord of The Rings is going to be the exact same game as the Nintendo version, albeit for a better graphical polish.
There’s a video below showing some off-screen gameplay, and as you can see, it’s not up to the standard that you would expect.
With the PS Vita capable of so much more, why are TT insisting on bringing out pathetic port of an inferior version when they have so much available to use in the Vita’s hardware?
They certainly won’t be getting my cash with this latest installment of crap, and I hope others will follow suit.
Until they realise that they can’t just mug off Vita owners, they will continue to rip us off.
