The newest installment into the Metal Gear series, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is already a massive success with sales being recorded to have reached over 3 million units in just only a week.
Some NeoGAF users have spotted these figures on a banner which featured on a Japanese site.
Even though these figures aren’t officially confirmed, gamers have to remember that this new Metal Gear Solid has had extreme hype due to it is the first open world shooter entry into the whole Metal Gear series. Also, what could contribute to these sales numbers being so high is the fact that there has been a massive seven-year gap in between the release of MGS: IV and MGS: V. With MGS: IV being released for Playstation 3 on June 12, 2008 it has been quite a wait for a new MGS game which would have definitely contributed towards the large sale numbers. Many gamers have been waiting a long time to get their hands on this highly anticipated open-world shooter, in fact 3 million gamers in just a week decided to end the wait and go out and get the latest Metal Gear Solid.
