That headline sounds a bit odd, doesn’t it? Well, they’re the words from the horse’s mouth, albeit paraphrased to create a kinda humourus headline that pleases the eye of the reader, and the search engines. We’re good at what we do, yo.
Microsoft has been quite vocal over the past few months about its strong holiday lineup for 2015, and we’ve heard on countless occasions from Phil Spencer and his mates that this year is the best year ever to be an Xbox fan. It’s a bold claim, but it’s not without merit. This holiday season saw the likes of Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Not only did Xbox fans receive a bunch of exclusives, but also full backwards-compatibility with over 100 Xbox 360 games, with promises of plenty more to come.
However, next year is also looking to be a good year for Microsoft and the owners of its Xbox One console. Speaking at the Credit Suisse Technology Conference in Arizona, Microsoft’s marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi said “we have Minecraft on Xbox. We have Gears of War, Tomb Raider,” before declaring that this year’s Xbox One games have been “the best lineup; next year will also be the best lineup.”
Well, there you have it. If your wallet wasn’t already battered enough by this years slew of great games, next year will surely kill off any plans you had of going to university, having a mortgage, raising a family, sending your child to uni, and leaving them money when you finally die. Worth it, though. Right?
Next year we’ll get the release of Crackdown 3, Gears of War 4, and many more. Pop back in to The Games Cabin every now and then for updates.
