Brace yourselves, if you are still seething about the day one firmware update for the Wii U, this isn’t going to make you feel any better.
It should though, because the latest firmware update improves the system stability of your brand new Wii U console. It’s not even that big a download either, only about 625MB, which shouldn’t take that long to download and install.
This does at least show that Nintendo is serious about their latest product, and post launch after care is vital to a growing install base, and they know it. With this latest firmware update, it’s obvious they are working at hard, as Nintendo has stated the update is to bring “further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”
Now, this might seem obvious, but as they say, common sense isn’t that common – DO NOT TURN OFF/UNPLUG YOUR CONSOLE DURING THE UPDATE.
Doing so may cause problems, to avoid problems, take the above advice and follow it to the word. There were many reports of people “bricking” their new Wii U during the day one update, all because they were inpatient and decided to unplug their console. Do not under any circumstances do that, not with your Wii U, nor with any device whilst it is in the process of updating.
