Another day, another studio loses staff.
This time its forty of Activision’s full-time staff from High Moon Studios after applying the finishing touches to the upcoming Deadpool video game. The news come from Joystiq who were told by an Activision spokesperson that Activision is looking to keep the books in order by balancing the income and expenses, unfortunately this has led to 40 people being made unemployed.
“Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues – this is an ongoing process,” the spokesperson states. “With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately, 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services.”
It’s always sad to see people lose their jobs, no matter what profession is affected. Some good news is that the number is low and they will at least be getting ‘outplacement counselling services.’ Knowing Activision, that means they’re getting their bus-fare paid for the trip to the Job Centre…
Deadpool is set to release sometime this summer for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Not a lot is known about the game at this time, other than it’s coming this summer. Usually when a game is just months away from release we get bombarded with hype and advertising, so maybe the silence is an indication of another dud, a la The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct…
