If you were worried about the cost of games for your new PlayStation 4 that you’ve either pre-ordered or are stashing away the cash for, then worry no more, as their will be a welcome goody in store for you.
There will at least be one free title to download for the PlayStation 4; Blacklight: Retribution, according to the US PlayStation Blog.
Blacklight: Retribution has been a free-to-play title for the PC up until this announcement, so expect micro-transactions to be present, though you won’t need to buy anything but they will definitely help you out in the heat of battle.
Blacklight: Retribution will launch on the PlayStation 4 with an initial 10 maps, 9 game modes which include classics such as Domination, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and more. As well as the standard maps and modes, there’s also a co-op survival mode named Onslaught, something to blast away a few hours with some buddies.
Sony said that the PlayStation 4 would be more welcoming of free-to-play games and by the looks of things, they’re keeping to their word. It’s not all bad, you have to remember that you are essentially getting a free game with the choice to buy other items, you don’t have to buy them. It’s not like buying a full game and then being ripped off with shady micro-transactions *cough* Dead Space 3 *cough.*
Personally, I’m not big on free-to-play games, I like to just pay for the full game and not have to pause to buy different items and what not, though I will definitely be giving this a fair go when it comes available, in fact, I may even jump onto the current PC version…
