Crytek haven’t had the best of times over the last few months, what with rumours of financial turmoil and the subsequent shutting down of Crytek UK and Crytek USA.
It’s not all bad though. Even after selling Homefront: Revolution and loosing two of their studios the troubled firm has managed to push out Ryse: Son of Rome for the PC to mostly positive reviews and now it seems they are in the process of developing a brand new video game.
A job posting on the official Crytek careers page for their Frankfurt studio suggests that their next title will be on open-world action-adventure game with a multiplayer offering of sorts.
“Crytek is looking for a Senior System Designer who will be responsible for designing various core game mechanics across the single player and multiplayer experience of an exciting title.”
The posting goes on to further with:
“Excellent knowledge of the principles of game design, gameplay theory, balancing, level design, story, interface, AI, combat, game-flow and player progression, particularly when applied to action/adventure games.“
That’s not all, it also seems that Crytek will look to further monetise whatever this upcoming project is via in-game purchases within the multiplayer component of the game. In the section describing desirable skills it reads:
“Multiplayer system design and balancing experience.
Experience with designing monetization systems for online games.
Experience in data analysis.
Working Knowledge of Sandbox 3 editor.
Used Agile Methodology as a design and development process, particularly SCRUM.”
Crytek Frankfurt is currently in the final stages of development of their upcoming free-to-play title Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded, an online co-op shooter set in the 1800’s.
