Far Cry 4 hasn’t even been out a month and people are already asking for the follow up! Well, this author can’t talk too harshly, the first thing I thought when I finished up Far Cry 4 was “damn, how long till 5?” So I guess there’s merit to the line of questioning.
Thankfully Far Cry 4’s Creative Director Alex Hutchinson has given an answer to the question, even if it is a little vague.
When questioned by a satisfied fan on Twitter if Far Cry 5 will be happening, Hutchinson replied “if enough people end up playing 4, then for sure. :)”
I think it’s more or less a given that Far Cry 5 will be happening sooner than later, Ubisoft are always eager to push out new entries in their franchises and whilst Far Cry has remained free of the yearly release curse, it’s only a matter of time…
That said, if they can keep the pace up and improve on each version then why not? It’s what they’re actively doing with Far Cry 4, even going as far as to looking into the possibility of adding some spice to the multiplayer offerings.
When asked by another happy customer on Twitter asked if it’s possible to “convert a map to a different gamemode than originally selected? Much needed in a few cases,” the courteous director replied with “will check but don’t think it’s an easy add.”
It’s by no means confirmation, but at least it’s possible although a little tricky on the business end.

Far Cry 4 released earlier this month to rave reviews from critics (here’s our review) and players alike, despite being a cross-gen release. It wasn’t completely without it’s problems, but most were aimed at PC pirates with Mr Hutchinson publicly calling out those who decided to steal the game.
