A new job posting on the Microsoft careers website indicates that they’re not only looking to keep the aging console in peoples mind for the foreseeable future, they’re actually still looking to create new experiences that will keep the console relevant for years to come.
The Xbox 360 team is looking for a new face to help drive and create new experiences that will keep the 360 relevant for years to come. We are focused on creating new and exciting ways to keep our large and loyal user base engaged with Xbox 360 and the larger Xbox Live ecosystem.
Responsibilities Include
Define flight / customer feedback strategy around features you own
Define a multifaceted quality plan for a large feature area from the ground up and coordinate across resources to see it executed
Design and code applications to facilitate gathering objective and subjective feedback directly from production customers
Build and utilize reporting mechanisms to utilize telemetry to understand customer behavior and experiences that will be used to directly impact product design
Provide regular program updates for both your feature team and executives

Basic Requirements:
A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
– Strong passion for gaming and media
– Proficiency with C++ or C#
– Exceptional at working across teams and divisions, with a history of being loved by your partner teams
– Be agile – thrive in an environment where your plans change rapidly in response to customer feedback and data
– A strong performance history
– Experience with telemetry, Cosmos, big data is a plus.
– At least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field
The advert mentions keeping the Xbox 360 a part of the larger Xbox Live ecosystem, so maybe Microsoft has something more in the works for the Xbox 360’s online-services that will keep the console going for a few more years.
