Can you even imagine what 1 million Xbox’s looks like?
The Xbox 360 might be an old-timer, but it still sells like it’s a new piece of kit.
In December alone, Microsoft managed to flog over one million Xbox 360 consoles. No doubt the Christmas spending frenzy helped, but it’s still a big achievement considering the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are supposedly coming to the end of their lifespan.
With the Next Xbox and Playstation 4 looking more and more likely to release later on this year, you have to admire the optimism of Microsoft in their statement on the Xbox 360’s latest sales figures.
“We expect 2013 will be another big year for Xbox 360 and we’re eager to continue to expand and grow the offerings available on the platform,” the firm said in a statement.
That’s a lot of consoles, and more importantly for Microsoft, a lot of money going their way. But will the Xbox 360 still enjoy this amount of success throughout 2013? I’m not so sure. As mentioned before, the Next Xbox or Xbox 720 and Playstation 4/Orbis are literally just around the corner, surely people will be saving their cash to invest in the next generation of home consoles.
