Microsoft has announced that the release of the Xbox One will be delayed in China, but the company still intends to launch the console later on this year.
Originally set to release on September 23rd in China, the Redmond based firm has decided to release towards the end of the year instead.
The platform holder released a statement announcing the delay, stating “at Xbox, we pride ourselves on delivering first rate gaming and entertainment experiences and to allow us to deliver on that promise we need to reschedule the launch of Xbox One,” and confirmed the console would still be releasing in 2014 “working with our partner, BesTV, we look forward to launching in China by the end of this year.”
It’s unfortunate for those pre-ordered their console, but Microsoft has promised that those who pre-ordered the console in China will still be the first to receive their new entertainment device, as well as being promised “an added bonus,” most likely in the form of free Xbox Live membership or a downloadable title.
The Xbox One will be the first home console to be released in China since the year 2000, when dedicated gaming consoles were outright banned.
