Bad news for those of you with a vast digital collection of games, they’re pretty much useless with the upcoming PlayStation 4.
To be honest, we all expected this to be the result, especially when we heard that Gaikai would be integrated with the PlayStation 4. Instead of putting your retail discs or PlayStation Network purchases on your PlayStation 4, you’ll most likely be playing them via Gaikai, the cloud gaming service that is now under Sony’s ownership.
Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida broke the bad news to us all, but did offer a glimmer of hope in saying that some titles may be playable “in some form.”
In all honesty, this isn’t the end of the world. If you keep hold of your PlayStation 3 when you purchase the PlayStation 4, you’ll have no problem skipping back and forth between the consoles, it may just make your living room a little more cluttered.
