A few days ago we reported that Sony Computer Entertainment had announced a whole round of price drops for the PS4 in Japan and Asia.
Today, the platform holder has confirmed that the UK will also be receiving a price cut on the PS4 which brings down the RRP to £299, down from £349.
The reality of the situation is that many retailers are already offering the PS4 for around £299, with some even bundling in a game or two for extra value. The new recommended retail price should encourage even more bundles and promotions with retailers, especially with the price cut coming so close to the Christmas shopping period.
The new pricing comes into effect on October 9th which coincides with the release of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.
At the time of writing there’s no word on any official price cuts for the rest of Europe, but we’d be very surprised to see Sony skip out on such a large part of the world and we fully expect to see North America receive some form of price cut/discount in the run up to the holidays.
Does the new price of £299 feel right to you and will it encourage you to make the jump from last-gen to the new era of gaming? Or are you still hanging on for a while? Let us know down in the comments section below.
