A few days ago Sony came out and announced that the UK and Europe would be getting a nice price drop on the PS4. It didn’t really come as much of a surprise, though, and to be honest we’re not really that interested in what the RRP is as retailers will (nearly) always throw together some decent bundles that undercut the official prices by a good margin.
For your everyday customer, the RRP is just another number. What you really want to be looking out for are bundles that go below the RRP. Following?
Irish entertainment chain HMV is offering one such bundle at incredible value. Yes, it’s in Ireland and it’ll be delivered to the UK’s mainland, no worries there. Yes, the price is in Euros, but once you convert it to the money that’s got that old bint’s face all over it, you’ll be laughing to the bank.
HMV will sell you a PS4 1TB console with five games for 399 euros. Okay, three of the games are on one disc as it’s Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, but c’mon, they’re still decent games. The other two are Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Watch Dogs.
We can’t really comment on Assassin’s Creed Syndicate just yet as we’re still putting together our review, but from the few hours played so far, it’s not bad. However, if you’re a little tired of Ubisoft’s open-world formula, you may find yourself leaving Watch Dogs tied to the post.
The Uncharted trilogy is a good bet for those who’ve not yet bothered with Nathan Drake’s adventures but want to get up to speed before Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End hits on March 18th, 2016.
So, in total, you get a 1TB PS4, three remastered games, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Watch Dogs. The cost is around £284, but can be brought down a few bob with the code HMV5. For reference, the official RRP for the PS4 is now £299.99 for the 500GB model on its own, so you’re saving well over a hundred quid. Over in the US, Amazon is selling the Uncharted PS4 bundle (500GB) for $349.99 while Amazon UK has the 1TB PS4 solus unit for £290.
According to HMV’s website the bundle isn’t due to release until October 26th, so you may be waiting a few days. Still, worth the wait if it saves you a ton of cash, innit?
