Uh oh, here we go again. Every time the PSN starts to hiccup, PlayStation fans across the land start to experience flashbacks to the Christmas outage of 2014.
The PlayStation Network is indeed experiencing some issues this evening, as indicated by the official PlayStation Status page.
The problems are affecting all PlayStation consoles and all Playstation apps related to gaming and video, so if you’re having a few issues getting online, now you know why.
It’s worth noting that not everyone is experiencing issues with the PSN. I myself (Germany) am currently connected to the PSN on the PS4 and PS Vita. In fact just before writing this article I was in a game of Awesomenauts! Assemble with no issues.
[Update] Damn it, spoke too soon. The PSN appears to be down in Germany too as my own consoles have stepped out of the digital age. After speaking with friends in the UK, US and mainland Europe, some are able to connect while others aren’t.
Sony are aware of the problems and they’re actively investigating the issues.
[Update #2] The official PSN status page indicates that the PSN is back online, though things are still a little sketchy for users as the service is undergoing maintenance, as I found out using the smartphone app.
[Update #3] Well, the PlayStation status page has once again reverted to stating that the network is down.
[Update #4] The PlayStation status page now says that all is running smooth, though we’re still unable to login and looking on social media, others are still unable to access their accounts.
