GTA V may eventually make it to the PC and Wii U, according to Rockstar Vice President Dan Houser.
When questioned on why there has been no official confirmation from the publisher on a PC or Wii U version, Dan Houser stated:
“Everything else is up for consideration. That’s all I can give you. The main thing is we are not… we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that’s on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that’s the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don’t make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.”
Rockstar started out creating games for the PC platform, as many a PC gamer will proudly tell you, so to completely abandon it would be a disservice to fans.
On the other hand piracy is rampant on the PC, with GTA IV being pirated even to this day, you have to admit it’s obviously not going to be the platform of choice for the developer.
GTA V on the Wii U however is an interesting idea. A lot could be done with the Wii U’s unique control system, but whether the console is up to the task of handling GTA V is another question. At the moment we’ve seen mediocre ports with Mass Effect 3 and Batman: Arkham City.
All hope isn’t lost though, it’s all up for consideration and we can spend all day speculating, but at the end of the day we’re just going to have to wait and see.
