More Call of Duty rumours are appearing online, with the latest being that the upcoming title will be revealed during the first week of May and that it is being referred to internally as Call of Duty Blacksmith.
This is hardly a surprise as we mentioned last week that Activision tends to announce the yearly Call of Duty during the first week of May, year after year. It would mean that the title will be revealed before E3, though you can be sure that Activision and Sledgehammer Games will use E3 to fuel the hype that will no doubt surround the shooter over the next 6 months.
Call of Duty Blacksmith is most likely just a code name for the title, so expect the actual name to be revealed during the reveal event sometime in the next few days.
Speculation on what Call of Duty Blacksmith could be is rife, with some suggesting that the title could be a continuation of the Modern Warfare saga, so Modern Warfare 4. However, it’s entirely possible that Sledgehammer could be working on their own story, for now we will have to wait and see.
Sledgehammer, Treyarch and Infinity Ward are all working on separate Call of Duty titles, each being given a three year development cycle in the hope that the extra time will create better games. Whether this pays off or not is yet to be seen.
Call of Duty Blacksmith will most likely release across all platforms, with the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC being the lead platforms. Whether we will see a PS Vita version this year remains to be seen.
Expect Call of Duty Blacksmith to release around October/November this year. Keep checking back in with The Games Cabin for updates!
