Remember when we reported that industry veteran John Hare was working on a spiritual successor to Sensible Soccer? No? Sociable Soccer not ringing any bells? Shame on you.
The game was being funded through Kickstarter with the aim of raising a cool £300,000 for the its development, but that Kickstarter campaign has been shown the red card – it’s cancelled.
The crowd-funding effort had only managed to raise a meager £32,000, and its subsequent cancellation shows that it just didn’t look like it had much of a chance at being a success.
That hasn’t put the game’s creator off, though, as John Hare stated:“Development is continuing at full tilt and when we get nearer to confirming how we will be bringing the game to market we will be sure to let you know.”
So there’s still a good chance we’ll be reliving the glory days of old in the near future. The project is aimed at PC, Xbox One, and PS4. According to Hare, there are a few publishers already sniffing around in the hopes of striking a deal of some sort. There’s nothing else to report on at the moment, but if you’re interested in Sociable Soccer, be sure to check in with The Games Cabin for updates.
