Other games are still on sale
Today, March 4th, 2022 is the date that Gran Turismo 7 releases worldwide for PS5 and PS4. Or at least it was supposed to.
Sony has not released Gran Turismo 7 in Russia, at least not on the PlayStation Store. The Russian PlayStation Store page does not have the option to buy the game, only a note stating “release date pending.” At the moment, we can’t be sure that the game isn’t being actively sold in retail stores.
It’s nobody’s guess as to why Gran Turismo 7 is not available in Russia – many companies have suspended their operations in Russia and Belarus in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with the support of Belarus.
At the time of writing, Sony has not released any statement as to why Gran Turismo 7 is not available in Russia, though maybe we’ll hear something from the platform holder soon.
While Gran Turismo 7 may not be for sale, other Sony exclusives and third-party games are available on the PlayStation Store. Likewise, Xbox, Nintendo, and various PC markets are still operating and selling games. But for how much longer?
Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Digital Minister has actively called out to Sony and Microsoft, and all other gaming platforms, publishers, and developers to ask them to block gaming accounts and sales of games in Russia and Belarus.
