Patents often show some interesting designs and future possibilities. Whether or not they see the light of day is another thing, but it’s always good fun to see what could be.
This particular patent from Sony, first filed back in May 2011 and published November 13th this year, shows some pretty neat ideas.
The patent shows what looks like your pretty standard DualShock3 controller with the additions of the Playstation Move ‘orbs’ as well as the ability to ‘break’ the controller in half, thus providing you with two Playstation Move wands without the need for extra accessories. Each half of the controller would include a gyroscope, accelerometer and a magnetometer, along with the addition of in-built speakers. Obviously the standard face buttons, triggers and analog sticks would be present.
It’s an interesting idea that may see some use in the future, maybe with the Playstation 4?
