With a Strictly Limited physical version, too
ININ Games, Bliss Brain, and Strictly Limited Games have announced today that the Wonder Boy Collection will be released on Nintendo Switch and PS4. When? “Soon,” apparently, but outside of that vague release window, there’s no actual release window. It’ll most likely be this year, though.
What is the Wonder Boy Collection? It’s a bundle of four classic Wonder Boy stories from the 80s and 90s, which includes:
- Wonder Boy (1986)
- Wonder Boy in Monster Land (1987)
- Wonder Boy in Monster World (1991)
- Monster World IV (1994)
The collection will be released on Switch and PS4 as a digital bundle and as a standard edition physical disc/cartridge, but there will also be a very special and very limited version via Strictly Limited Games, as well as a Collector’s edition for the hardcore fans.
These modern ports will come with some modern quality of life improvements, too, such as being able to save at any time, rewind and fast-forward. There will also be different shader and filter options, so if you want to emulate the look of playing on a telly from the days when Richard Whiteley was still the host of countdown and mullets were considered cool, you can.
The editions that will be available via Strictly Limited Games are not yet available for pre-order, and there’s no information yet on what extra goodies will be packed in with the games, but more information on these special celebratory editions will be coming soon.
In the meantime, have a trailer:
