Creative Assembly really did do a fine job with Alien: Isolation. It managed to get this author watching Disney movies before bed for an entire week. The tension, the sheer horror and the general atmosphere of the game was everything a decent horror game needs.
So what would it have been like if the same team had a stab at Resident Evil? Maybe even Resident Evil 7? Well, one of the Creative Assembly’s artists has some old concept art from cancelled projects, one of which is named Resident Evil 7, along with a cancelled Bourne game, an unnamed Marvel project and even a game based on Quentin Tarantino’s epic Western Django Unchained.
It’s not clear why any of the projects were cancelled, nor is it immediately obvious whether any made it past the pitching process and into actual development before being canned, but we’re truly gutted that we won’t be able to take Django for a ride through the Old West and that the Bourne franchise never really took off in the gaming world. There was one game a few years back, it was pretty decent, too, but we’d kill for another. Have a look at the images down in the gallery below. Try not to cry over what could have been; we’ve shed enough tears for everyone. Oh Djangoooo…
