No, this isn’t a cruel April Fool joke come a bit early, it’s actually the truth. Sony has announced today that Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4 has been pushed back by another two weeks. Ok, it’s not a massive delay, but for fans of the franchise who are itching to find out the fate of Nate, it might as well be two years.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog earlier today, Sony’s Shawn Layden broke the bad news but he also explained the reasons behind the delay. According to the exec, the delay is to allow more time for manufacturing; the game is essentially finished. The previous release dates meant that some regions would get the game a little earlier than others, but with the new release date if May 10 there’s more time to manufacture and ship the game worldwide so that everybody can buy the game on the same day.
It’s a bit of a pain in the neck, but at least it’s still only two weeks. Uncharted 4’s release date is now May 10 in all territories. To help tide you over until the game finally lands on your PS4, there’s an open beta this weekend. Lovely.
