Who is the Quaxly evolution in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? The stylish Duckling Pokemon with well-coiffed hair (or feathers?) undergoes a good bit of change over the course of the latest Pokemon games, as shown in pre-release leaks. Here’s what you need to know about each evolution of Quaxly in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Quaxly Evolution: Quaxwell
The evolution line for Quaxly was the last to leak of the three Paldean starter Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Even more so, there is the least available information about this Water-type line compared to the other three starters. While the other evolutionary lines can be seen in full images, all that exists of Quaxly’s family so far is a snapshot of their in-game sprites.
Nevertheless, we can see from the Paldean Pokedex that the middle form of this evolutionary line is named Quaxwell. It is taller than Quaxly, with longer hair and more pronounced feathers on its tail. In addition, Quaxly’s light blue feathers turn to a much darker blue upon evolving into Quaxwell, while its light blue feet turn yellow.
Quaxly Evolution: Quaquaval
The final evolution for Quaxly in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is known as Quaquaval. The tallest and most slender of the bunch, Quaquaval has strings of oval-shaped feathers that appear to protrude out of its back. As of now, it is unclear what purposes these serve, or what Quaquaval’s overall theme is in general.
Most of Quaquaval’s feathers are an even darker blue than those of Quaxwell. However, the final evolution also has red feathers that look like giant eyebrows above its eyes. In addition, it has red-tipped feet that almost have the appearance of painted toenails.
Unlike its pure Water-type pre-evolutions, Quaquaval is a Water/Fighting-type. It also could prove to be an offensive threat thanks to its Hidden Ability, Moxie. Moxie causes Quaquaval to gain an Attack boost every time it knocks out an enemy Pokemon. As a result, Quaquaval can make fights snowball once it is able to land its first knockout of the match.
